Role:Payroll Specialist
Location: Madrid, Spain
Reporting to: Payroll Manager
Full Time, Permanent
Main function of role:
- Ensure accurate and timely process and balancing of Primark’s Spain and Portugal payrolls alongside the production of financial information.
- Provide flexible support to senior payroll team including support on data uploads to the payroll system to high level of accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Help ensure that all store payrolls (including own store payrolls) are delivered to a high standard of accuracy and in accordance with current Spain and Portugal legislations, company regulations and collective agreements.
- Following detailed payroll checking procedures across all areas such as report production, payroll checking and correction, sickness processing, etc.
- Provide flexible support to the Iberia payroll team.
- Liaise with governing and statutory bodies as required for any research.
- Carry out Time-pro, WD data validations and any uploads.
- Assist with tax year end duties such as balance reconciliations and tax control accounts.
- Process timely payments to employees and authorities in both Spain and Portugal.
- Payroll/Finance reconciliations.
- Write, modify and produce reports for Payroll and wider business such as sickness reconciliation reporting from FIE data, trade unions, dismissal.
- Assisting the Payroll manager during internal and external payroll audits.
- Continuously embracing system and process improvements to boost payroll delivery, accuracy and compliance.
- Other duties as may be required – taking on additional responsibility to support international payroll.
Skills & Competencies
- Successful candidates should be degree in labour relations, business Administration or related studies
- Up to date working knowledge of payroll practices.
- Experience of problems that can affect payroll and experience of resolving common payroll issues.
- Experience of tax year end practices and requirements.
- Ability to work under pressure and commit to tight deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both written and spoken.
- Ideally have an intermediate English-speaking level.
- Microsoft Excel knowledge at Intermediate level or above.
- Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a wider team, whilst managing workloads and remaining flexible.
- Detailed knowledge of payroll rules and common payroll problems that can occur.
- Strong analytical ability.
- Ability to influence and interact well with team members.
- Organizational and time management skills in managing multiple, diverse and sometimes conflicting priorities.
- Experience in payroll compliance practices.
- Ability to make decisions in a timely manner.
Experience
- Typically, 5 or more years of Payroll experience preferable.
- Very good experience and knowledge of current labor law in both Spain and Portugal.3
